July painting camp - part 1

We've been painting away in the studio - taking pictures of landscapes and converting them into acrylic paintings.  Lots of landscapes.  Some animals.  A couple of volcanos.  Subject matter with a lot to talk about - specially how to mix colors.

Ink blown paintings were a different technique and the kids took to it right away.  Just drop ink on watercolor paper and blow on it.  Enjoy the different shapes and stories that emerge.

Today we made robots using painted wood pieces. In time left over we made felt purses. Gosh - these kids have lot of energy and enthusiasm to learn new things.

First sewing project

It is so exciting to make things using sewing.  Nothing like wearing something you have made. 

Kaylie picked out some leapord fabric for her skirt and brought her great grandma's sewing box. She had to learn so many small skills - pinning fabric, cutting using the pattern, folding fabric, right side, wrong side, etc.

We made a pattern, cut the fabric and had a tiny bit leftover to make a pocket.
