I am so excited to share these pictures of work created in my Upcycled Art class at UCSD Extension this fall. We had our last class yesterday and I have made new friends and really enjoyed seeing all the new ideas pop up.

Class picture on the last day at my studio. We missed one person who was sick :(
To end our week long run of painting, we did mixed media. I wanted something different for the kids to do instead of using photographs to make flat pictures. Texture was key.
Maps provide automatic texture and the tissue paper was fun and easy to manipulate. The process of layering took some time and the kids amazed me with the flowers they came up with.
What a great week its been for me and what a wonderful set of kids. I want to thank every parent for raising them so well.

We had a fun and productive class - my students at UCSD Ext went on this small journey with me and created neat pieces with recycled materials. If you are one of them - thanks for a great class!
My intention was to introduce them to new ways of thinking and using old throwaway materials. They took this in stride, enjoyed some projects, were challenged by others, and were at times happily surprised at what turned out.

Vidhya and Padmaja were here over 2 weekends to do these bright and colorful works. I am enjoying the theme of animals and birds in artwork.
Two little girls came to do collage on posters with an environmental theme. The pictures don't do justice, the posters look much better in person.
