We made a city scene with cars, road signs, trees, building, a stop light, etc. Lots of places to draw things overlapping each other. One behind the other. Clouds behind the buildings. Trees in front of the buildings. Cars on top of the road.
The girls made really fun cars, trucks, and even a bus.

These fun birds are a great lesson to draw a simple bird and then complete the drawing with lots of nice details. First we drew the body, then the feathers. The birds then got a home with trees, grass, and flowers.

Thanks to Deep Space Sparkle for this wonderful lesson in drawing Victorian homes. First we drew the major blocks of the home. Then added the towers, the windows, the fancy door, the steps, the balcony - all of those details made it come together. I asked the kids to restrict themselves to maybe 4 or 5 colors and to repeat patterns that they had made in one part of the home in another part.
The kids did such an awesome job - we used both regular and fine point markers on Bristol paper.

Open up a fruit to do the insides - a cool way to get a different perspective and sometimes even a more interesting drawing exercise.
These girls did such a awesome job - even though this drawing was much harder than the ones we had done before.
