Maya did this piece of embroidery of her dog Maple. Look at all the little stiches and the colors. Lovely, isn't it? We then put it in a 8"x10" white frame and now it hangs in her home.

Crazy fish
This fish started out as just a line to learn the Pekinese stitch - thats the red and blue long curved line making the top body of the fish. Maya quickly expanded the single curved line to include every stitch she has learned so far. What a fun fish this is - abstract, colorful, and floaty.

Embroidery by Maya
Maya is meticulous with her stitches. She is careful about color selection and design. We are going through basic stitches, making up designs of our own, and its been a lot of fun for me to do this together with her.
Satin stitch
Half-ladder stitch - she used 2 colors of embroidery thread together
Flowers with bunch of stitches - satin, french knot, stem, running, etc.

Pencil cases
Three young girls did their first embroidery lesson this weekend. It was a long lesson, and I am proud of them for sticking it through and completing their own design. We learned stem stitch as well as Lazy Daisy stitch.
It is very interesting to me how children like to include our amazing sun in their landscape pictures. Almost to not forget what gives us all life and what sustains us.
Flowers are blooming in these pieces and the sun is shining. Even the moon has made an appearance - see if you can find it.
I put it together to make a lined pencil case with a zipper.
