The girls cut out magazine pictures to make stories - Lots of them chose birds and flowers. Collage is not as easy as one might think - the first picture may be easy but what comes next can change the story dramatically!

The first class of the year was full of excited kids. We drew guitars and violins and then cut them up. These were used in a collage with other fun paper, music notes, and colored shapes.

To end our week long run of painting, we did mixed media. I wanted something different for the kids to do instead of using photographs to make flat pictures. Texture was key.
Maps provide automatic texture and the tissue paper was fun and easy to manipulate. The process of layering took some time and the kids amazed me with the flowers they came up with.
What a great week its been for me and what a wonderful set of kids. I want to thank every parent for raising them so well.
